Label TextThe first European book set with moveable type was the Latin bible, printed by Johannes Gutenberg in Mainz (1454/55). This leaf on the left is from the most influential of the eighteen German bible editions printed before Martin Luther’s translation of the Bible published 1522 (New Testament) and 1534 (Old Testament).
