On View
Not on viewThis jar is a shape typically used to hold water or other beverages. The artist adroitly turned the body of the vessel into a human form. Note the face with mustache-like lines painted on the front of the jar. Arms are rendered in paint too, meeting on the "forehead" of the jar.Published References"Recent Acquisitions," (exhibition catalogue) North Carolina Museum of Art Bulletin 12, no. 3 (March 1974), cat. no. 134.
