DescriptionFrom Scott Rodolitz's 2024 appraisal: The large bronze rattle, magnificently cast with Janus faces at the finial, the apex of the heads with inverted chevron, surrounding the heads multiple small attachment-loops with six remaining attached danglers; The faces with raised scarification and indications of coiffure, the eyes almond-shaped and raised on a flat facial plane above a thin, descending nose with flaring nostrils and small lips. The handle with two registers of elaborately cast zig zagging patterns over the terminus in the form of a rounded hollow ball as the sounding bell. Exceptional patina of age, use, and wear.
