Label TextStatues included in tombs served as repositories for the ka awaiting offerings and idealized representations of the deceased for the soul to recognize its tomb. Though we do not know the owner’s name and titles, the fine modeling and size of this figure suggest he was a government official, wealthy enough to afford a splendid burial.

Alternatively, the statue may have been given to the worthy official by the king for services rendered (a common practice). It was both a sign of prestige and a privilege for any of the king’s officials to own burial goods made in royal workshops.
