On View
Not on viewThe contorted chair twists and turns as if trying to free itself from its shackles. Sitting in the undersized chair renders the subject into a helpless state. “The size and solidity of the sculptures,” says Capote, “allow them to be used as chairs, despite their deformations, but as soon as we sit on them we unconsciously adopt a convict posture.”
