On View
Not on viewIn 1948 Moore attended Black Mountain College’s summer institute. There, teachers Josef Albers and Jacob Lawrence instructed her about subject matter and form. She recalled one lesson during which Albers cut shapes from paper and indicated their interactions. The lesson must have resurfaced when Moore composed the drawings shown here, where she presents sketches for a futuristic playground. The drawings reference Albers’s teachings, especially in their delineation of shape and their lean toward abstraction.
